Government
The Spartan government was very different from the Athens one. The were an Oligarchic nation, meaning they had a small group of king like leaders. They had two kings that would lead them in times of war. In addition to the kings, they had five "ephors" or Magistrates that were elected from aristocratic families. They also had a council, this consisted of two kings and 28 elders. The elders had to be 60 years old or older in order to qualify. When a new law was created, the leaders would take the law to an assembly of citizens, who would give a yes or no vote, no questions asked.
